Traceability

Make it visible where products come from, what happened to them, and where they were delivered.

Back

Traceability is the ability to reconstruct the origin, processing, and destination of goods. Depending on the product, this is done by item, lot, batch, or serial number. The required level of detail depends on risks, customer agreements, and applicable legislation.

In practice, you record which goods arrive, where they are stored, and which products or deliveries are made with them. When mixing or splitting lots, the relationships must be maintained. Clear identification and consistent registration at every relevant transfer are therefore essential, even when external partners are involved.

Good traceability helps to quickly define the impact of a quality issue. You can investigate more specifically which stock or customers are affected, rather than blocking unnecessarily large groups. It does not prevent the problem itself, but supports a faster and better-substantiated response.

What is Traceability?

Traceability is the ability to track and reconstruct the origin, processing, and destination of goods.

When do you use it?

Register relevant item, batch, or serial numbers and link them to receipts, processing, and deliveries.

What are the benefits?

More targeted investigation into deviations and better control of recalls and quality risks.
