Delivery Reliability (OTIF)

Measure whether customers receive their orders on time and in full.

Back

Delivery reliability indicates the extent to which you fulfill agreed delivery commitments. A commonly used metric is OTIF: On Time In Full. A delivery only qualifies when it is both on time and complete. Agree in advance whether you measure per order, order line, or shipment, and whether it concerns the requested or confirmed delivery date.

In practice, you compare the actual delivery with the agreed quantity and the agreed time window. A timely delivered half order does not meet OTIF, nor does a complete order that arrives too late. Analyze deviations by cause, for example stock shortages, planning errors, warehouse delays, or transport problems.

A clear measurement reveals where delivery commitments are under pressure. This helps departments improve collaboratively instead of shifting delays to one another. Higher delivery reliability can reduce rush orders and customer complaints, giving customers greater certainty for their own planning.

What is Delivery Reliability (OTIF)?

OTIF stands for On Time In Full: the percentage of orders delivered both on time and in full.

When do you use it?

Record the unit of measurement, delivery agreement, and allowed tolerances, and investigate any missed performance.

What are the benefits?

Clear insights into delivery performance and targeted actions to better meet customer agreements.
